There are many reasons why a vehicle will end up on the list of the most expensive vehicles to insure. For example, they may be theft targets–which will typically increase the comprehensive insurance premiums for anyone who owns that make and model. Or, passengers in that vehicle might typically suffer more injuries in crashes or accidents. That will increase the overall injury protection premiums.
Last year, Insure.com named the Chevy Cobalt, the Dodge Ram Pickup, and the Ford Focus as the most expensive vehicles to insure. And they named the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra Pickup, and Chrysler Town & Country as the least expensive cars to insure.
